Wall Hanging
A quilt or quilt-like textile made specifically for display on a wall rather than use on a bed.
A wall hanging is made to be displayed vertically rather than used on a bed. Sizes vary enormously — from 12-inch mini quilts to large-scale art pieces — but most wall hangings are 18×24 to 36×45 inches. Because wall hangings aren't subject to the wear and washing of bed quilts, they can be made from delicate fabrics and feature more intricate techniques. They typically have a hanging sleeve attached to the back. Wall hangings are popular in quilt shows, as commissioned art, and as decorative elements in quilting studios.
