About NiftyFifty

The modern quilting community platform — built by quilters, for quilters. We're carrying forward the spirit of the NiftyFifty Quilters into a new era of creative connection.

Our Mission

To create the most welcoming, useful, and beautiful online home for quilters. We want to make it effortless to discover patterns, organize exchanges, find your local quilting community, and explore new creative possibilities — all in one place that feels like sitting down at a quilting bee with friends.

The NiftyFifty Connection

NiftyFifty was born from the NiftyFifty Quilters — a group that started in 1997 with a simple idea: one quilter from each of the fifty states, swapping blocks and building friendships across the miles.

Over 17 themed swaps, they exchanged more than 70,000 quilt blocks, expanded to 40+ countries, and proved that fabric and thread can build bonds stronger than geography.

NiftyFifty takes that same spirit — generosity, creativity, and community — and brings it to a new generation of quilters with modern tools for a timeless craft.

What We Believe

Community First

Every feature we build starts with one question: does this bring quilters closer together? We believe the best quilts are made when people share, teach, and inspire each other.

Honor the Craft

Quilting is an art form with deep roots. We respect the traditions while embracing new tools and techniques. From hand-piecing to AI-assisted design, all approaches are welcome here.

Built to Last

Like a well-made quilt, NiftyFifty is built to endure. We're creating a platform that will serve quilters for years to come — not a flash-in-the-pan social media experiment.

Inclusive & Welcoming

Quilters of every skill level, background, and style belong here. Whether you've been quilting for decades or just bought your first rotary cutter, you'll find your place.

Built by Quilters, for Quilters

We're not a tech company that discovered quilting. We're quilters who happen to know how to build software. Every decision we make is guided by our love for the craft and our respect for the community.
