Overview

NiftyFifty respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the platform, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

Account Information — When you create an account, we collect your email address. You may optionally add a display name, username, avatar, and bio to your profile.

Uploaded Content — Photos and blocks you upload are stored securely via Supabase Storage and displayed on the platform according to your sharing settings.

Activity Data — We store your swap participation, quilt saves, block favorites, guild memberships, and chat messages to provide a connected community experience.

Local Storage — The Quilt Designer and Pattern Designer save your designs locally in your browser. These never leave your device unless you explicitly share or export them.

Analytics — We may use anonymous, aggregate analytics to understand feature usage. No personally identifiable information is collected through analytics.

How We Use Your Information

  • To operate your account and authenticate your sessions
  • To facilitate block swaps, guilds, and community features
  • To send transactional emails (login links, swap notifications, digests)
  • To display your public profile and contributions to other members
  • To improve the platform based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. Ever.

Uploaded Blocks & Patterns

When you upload a quilt block image or pattern to NiftyFifty, you retain full copyright ownership. By uploading, you grant NiftyFifty a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your content for any purpose related to operating, promoting, and marketing NiftyFifty — including on the platform, social media, newsletters, press materials, advertisements, and printed publications.

We will never sell your uploaded content as a standalone product or license it to unrelated third parties for their own commercial use. You can remove your content at any time from your account settings, though copies already in use for promotional purposes may persist.

Public Content & External Sharing

Content you post with "public" visibility — including quilt designs, block photos, and patterns — is visible to anyone on the internet. NiftyFifty generates shareable preview images (Open Graph images) for public quilts and patterns so they display correctly when linked on social media platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and X.

Other users and visitors may share links to your public content, pin your designs to Pinterest, or post previews on social platforms. Your username or display name may appear alongside your public designs when shared in this way. If you do not want your content shared externally, mark it as private.

Cookies & Analytics

NiftyFifty uses essential cookies to manage your authenticated session; authentication is handled by Supabase.

We use Google Analytics to understand feature usage in aggregate. We also use Grow by Mediavine, which may set cookies or use similar technologies to support content personalization features such as bookmarking and sharing. You can review Grow's practices and manage your preferences at grow.me.

We never sell your personal information, and account data (your email, profile, projects) is never shared with advertisers.

Advertising — Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)

NiftyFifty displays advertisements through Journey by Mediavine. A consent banner may appear on your first visit (depending on your region) where you can accept or decline personalized advertising; you can change your choices at any time through the consent preferences link on the site.

The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. A cookie is a small text file which is sent to your computer or mobile device (referred to in this policy as a “device”) by the web server so that a website can remember some information about your browsing activity on the Website.

First party cookies are created by the website that you are visiting. A third-party cookie is frequently used in behavioral advertising and analytics and is created by a domain other than the website you are visiting. Third-party cookies, tags, pixels, beacons and other similar technologies (collectively, “Tags”) may be placed on the Website to monitor interaction with advertising content and to target and optimize advertising. Each internet browser has functionality so that you can block both first and third-party cookies and clear your browser's cache. The “help” feature of the menu bar on most browsers will tell you how to stop accepting new cookies, how to receive notification of new cookies, how to disable existing cookies and how to clear your browser's cache. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.

Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

The Website collects the following data using a cookie when serving personalized ads:

  • IP Address
  • Operating System type
  • Operating System version
  • Device Type
  • Language of the website
  • Web browser type
  • Email (in hashed form)

Mediavine Partners (companies with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor's referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.

If you would like more information about this practice and to know your choices to opt-in or opt-out of this data collection, please visit the National Advertising Initiative opt out page. You may also visit the Digital Advertising Alliance website and the Network Advertising Initiative website to learn more information about interest-based advertising. You may download the AppChoices app at Digital Advertising Alliance's AppChoices app to opt out in connection with mobile apps, or use the platform controls on your mobile device to opt out.

For specific information about Mediavine Partners, the data each collects and their data collection and privacy policies, please visit Mediavine Partners.

Data Retention

Your account and data are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal profile data within 30 days. Content you shared in swaps (block photos, posts) may persist in the archive unless you delete it before closing your account.

Your Rights

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information in your profile at any time
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Opt out of non-essential emails from your notification settings
  • Opt out of personalized advertising at any time via the consent preferences link on the site or the industry opt-out tools listed above

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or certain U.S. states such as California), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].
