Kaleidoscope Block
A block made from identical wedge-shaped pieces cut from the same fabric repeat, creating a mirror-image kaleidoscope effect.
The Kaleidoscope block is made from 8 or more identical wedge shapes cut from precisely the same position in a fabric repeat, then arranged in a circle so the pattern creates a symmetrical kaleidoscope effect. The key to a stunning Kaleidoscope block is choosing a fabric with a strong geometric or floral repeat and using a see-through wedge template to cut each piece from exactly the same spot. Fussy-cutting for Kaleidoscope blocks requires extra yardage but produces breathtaking results that appear far more complex than the construction actually is.
