Block Patterns
Four Patch
A 2×2 grid block made from four squares of two alternating fabrics.
The Four Patch is the simplest possible block — four equal squares arranged in a 2×2 grid, typically two light and two dark arranged so that matching colors are diagonal. Four Patches are often used as components within larger blocks (many complex blocks contain Four Patches at their centers or corners) and as building blocks for scrap quilts. They strip-piece with a single seam: sew two strips together, cut into segments, and join two segments with nesting seams.
