Basting Spray

A temporary adhesive spray used to hold quilt layers together before quilting, as an alternative to pin or thread basting.

Basting spray is a repositionable adhesive sprayed between the layers of a quilt sandwich to temporarily bond them together before quilting. It holds the layers firmly enough to prevent shifting during quilting but doesn't permanently bond the fabric. Basting spray is faster than pin basting and doesn't create the lumpiness of safety pins under the presser foot. It works best on smaller quilts; very large quilts may still benefit from supplemental pin basting at the edges.
