Charity Quilt

A quilt made specifically to be donated to a person or organization in need.

Charity quilts are made with the intention of giving them away to people who need comfort, warmth, or a tangible expression of care. Common recipients include homeless shelters, hospitals, neonatal units, domestic violence shelters, military veterans, children in foster care, and disaster relief organizations. Quilt guilds often coordinate large-scale charity quilt programs. The NiftyFifty community has donated quilts to the families of 9/11 victims and other charitable causes. Charity quilts are often simpler in design to allow fast construction from donated fabric.
