Food & Coffee Quilting Fabric

Table runners, potholders, casserole carriers, and lunch bags all love a food print — small projects where a bold novelty fabric can be the whole show. A runner usually takes about a yard including backing.

Cut each print so one full motif fits per patch — usually a 4 to 5 inch square — and aim for as many different prints as you can. Food fabrics are a favorite category because kids recognize everything.

Alternate novelty patches with solids or tonal blenders pulled from the prints' background colors. Cream and low-volume neutrals are the safest sashing choices.
