Earth tones anchor it — terracotta, ochre, sage, and indigo — with cream or unbleached-linen neutrals. One saturated accent like teal or orchid keeps it from going muddy.

Batiks are woven tighter and feel slightly crisper, which makes them great for precise piecing. They're also more saturated, so a color-catcher in the first wash is smart.
