The yucca plant became New Mexico’s state flower in 1927. The plant blossoms are white and looks like upside down droplets formed on tall spikes. They are often referred as “lamps of the Lord”. There are over 40 species of the Yucca plant and they can be found in the grassy highlands of the desert.
