The Camellia replaced the Goldenrod as Alabama's state flower in 1959. The Camellia is a native of Asia which peaks in January and February. This is the flower of a lush flowering shrub with blossoms of pink, white or red complimented by evergreen leaves. It is often referred as "The Rose of Winter" for its elegance and grace.
