A series of international swaps that took the Nifty Fifty Quilters global. Each quilter created a quilt block to represent their country. We received double decker buses from England, Loch Ness Monster from Scotland, kangaroos and panda bears from Australia, Russian tea dolls from Belarus, pyramids from Egypt, Eiffel Tower from France, Taj Mahal from India, kimonos from Japan and elephants from Kenya and many more… Participants from 40+ countries including Singapore, Korea, Ireland, Holland, USA, Africa, Guatemala, Austria, China, Canada, Czechoslovakia, USA, Denmark, Congo, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Isreal, Kenya, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Luxembourg, and Moldova. These exchanged quilt blocks celebrated cultural heritage from around the world. The swap was part of the Nifty Fifty Quilters tradition—a global community of quilters connecting through creativity. Quilters from across the globe came together through the shared language of creativity and the time-honored art of quilting. Each quilt block told a story—inspired by their own heritage and traditions, and together, the individual blocks formed a unique collection representing the diversity and beauty of the world. Though created in different places and by different hands, the blocks were brought together to form a remarkable collection: a quilted tapestry of cultures, histories, and friendships spanning the world.
