What is a quilt retreat center?
A house, lodge or inn that rents to sewing groups, usually with long work tables, good lighting, design walls and ironing stations, plus beds for a weekend. Guilds, bees and groups of friends book the whole place and sew from morning until late.
What should I ask before booking?
How many sewists it sleeps and seats, whether each person gets their own table, the lighting, how many irons and cutting stations there are, whether meals are included, the deposit and cancellation terms, and how far it is to the nearest quilt shop.
How far ahead do groups book?
Popular centers fill their weekends a year or more out, especially in spring and fall. Midweek dates open up sooner and often cost less.
