The quintessential quilting block. Strips of fabric are sewn around a center square, traditionally red to represent the hearth of the home. Light and dark sides create stunning visual effects when blocks are arranged together.
Cotton quilting fabric, batting, thread, rotary cutter
Start with a 2.5" center square. Add strips in a clockwise direction, pressing seams as you go. Alternate light and dark fabrics for the classic effect.
