Outer Space Quilting Fabric

Galaxy prints shine as backgrounds and negative space — behind pieced stars especially, where the print does the work of a hundred tiny pieces. They also make spectacular quilt backs and borders.

Star blocks are the natural match — sawtooth stars, Ohio stars, or a lone star floating on a galaxy background. Simple large patches work too, since a busy nebula print needs room to read.

Deep navy, purple, and black extend the night sky, while metallic gold or silver accents echo the stars. A crisp white or pale gray gives the eye a resting place among all that darkness.
