On-Point Setting
A quilt layout where blocks are rotated 45 degrees so they sit on their corners.
An on-point setting (also called a diagonal setting) rotates each block 45 degrees so it appears as a diamond rather than a square. Setting triangles — cut from squares on the bias — are added along the edges and corners to complete the rectangular quilt top. This setting creates a more dynamic visual movement than a straight setting and can make simple blocks look more complex. Because the edges of on-point settings are on the bias, careful handling is needed to prevent stretching.
