Cornerstones
Small squares set at the intersections of sashing strips in a quilt layout.
Cornerstones are small squares of fabric placed where horizontal and vertical sashing strips meet. They add a secondary design element and can echo colors from the quilt blocks. Cornerstones are typically cut the same width as the sashing strips, creating a perfect square at each intersection. Using a contrasting color for cornerstones creates a grid effect, while matching the background makes them nearly invisible.
